The Interaction of Nutrition, Metagenomic and Molecular Gastric Microenvironment Factors in Helicobacter Pylori-Induced Gastric Carcinogenesis

  • Funding source: Japan-Lithuania joint grant call
  • Grant agreement number: 2021-PRO-00105
  • Date: January 2025 – December 2024
  • Description: This study aims to clarify factors (nutrition, metabolome, microbiome, microRNA) that impact gastric microenvironment in Helicobacter pylori-induced gastric carcinogenesis and to compare these factors between Japan and Lithuania. Gastric cancer patients will be enrolled in both countries, and gastric juice and gastric tissue biopsies will be collected. The analysis of microbiome, SCFAs, nutrition factors and microRNA profile in the exosomes will be performed to identify risk factors for gastric carcinogenesis (precancerous conditions and gastric cancer). The relationship between different factors (dietary fiber content and SCFAs concentration; microbiome and microRNA profile; microbiome and SCFAs) and multicomponent analysis (all available molecular, nutrition and clinical/phenotypic data) will be performed.
