ONCODIR

Evidence Based Participatory Decision Making for Cancer Prevention Through Implementation Research

  • Funding source: Horizon Europe
  • Grant agreement number: 101104777
  • Date: June 2023 – November 2026
  • Description: Unhealthy lifestyles and socioeconomic inequalities contribute to a rising burden of colorectal cancer (CRC), one of the most prevalent and deadly cancers. Prevention strategies exist, but they often fail to reach those most at risk due to behavioural, financial, and systemic barriers. Effective, personalised prevention requires a deeper understanding of lifestyle, economic, and cultural factors that influence health. Innovative, data-driven solutions are essential to improve early detection and prevention efforts. In this context, the EU-funded ONCODIR project brings together AI-powered analytics, health policy research, and social sciences to develop tailored CRC prevention strategies. Through large-scale pilot studies and citizen-driven design workshops, ONCODIR aims to create cost-effective, personalised, and trustworthy interventions that could transform cancer prevention in Europe.
