Molecular Test for Non-Invasive Screening of Colorectal Cancer

  • Description: The idea of the current research project is to create a novel non-invasive stool-based molecular test for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening that would improve the diagnostic performance of the fecal immunochemical test (FIT) that is currently used in CRC screening programs worldwide. Using “omics” techniques and computational models we will integrate fecal metagenomic, cell-type or CRC-specific cell-free and exosome-packed miRNA profiles and FIT test in order to create a non-invasive tool for CRC screening programs.
