Intestinal Organoid Model: Platform for Drug Testing and Personalized Therapy in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

  • Funding source: EU Structural Fund / Research Council of Lithuania
  • Grant agreement number: 01.2.2- LMT-K-718-04-0003
  • Date: January 2020 – December 2024
  • Description: The idea of the project is to create and develop a human intestinal organoid model suitable for drug testing and selection of personalized IBD therapy. Biological therapy-naïve patient-derived epithelial intestinal stem cells, as well as immune cells, essential for the pathogenesis of IBD, will be used for the development of this model. Moreover, structured patient clinical and immune profile data, as well as the organoid exome, transcriptome and response to treatment data (transcriptome and targeted proteome) will be used for the generation of open access IBD therapy prediction database, which will benefit the future basic and clinical IBD research and search of new therapeutic targets.
