Helicobacter pylori

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is considered the most prevalent human pathogen, infecting more than 50% of the global population. Although H. pylori is most commonly associated with malignant conditions like gastric cancer, it also contributes to a range of chronic, non-cancerous gastrointestinal disorders, including chronic and atrophic gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, functional dyspepsia, iron deficiency anemia, and vitamin B12 deficiency.

The Institute for Digestive Research is conducting comprehensive studies on H. pylori, including its identification and distribution in population, response to treatment, and association with clinical data as well as other members of human microbiome community.
